When the 70-year-old Chester native’s dissatisfaction with his current hearing aids finally got the better of him, Alverson decided to make a change.

“I had worn hearing aids for 20 years, but the ones I had just didn’t work well. Still, I thought I was managing to get by because I could read lips.”

But Alverson admitted he still had to ask folks to repeat themselves and he didn’t want to miss out on conversations with his family any longer.

“My wife Sue, and everyone around me, was concerned that they had to repeat everything in a louder voice so I could hear. Though I never saw my hearing difficulties as a handicap, those around me did. It was a friend who recommended that I check out Earlens.

Earlens is an FDA-approved hearing device that is not an implant, nor a conventional hearing aid, but rather a a hearing lens. This tiny lens is placed directly on the eardrum. The ear tip transmits the broadest range of frequencies of any hearing technology on the market today. It sends high fidelity audio signals directly to the lens, gently vibrating the eardrum creating enhanced sound.

Ron first met with Bob Froke, an audiologist at Midwest ENT & Allergy. Froke, who also wears Earlens, highly recommended that he give them a try. He said the sound quality is richer than any conventional hearing aid can currently offer.

“I have never been so excited to share a breakthrough technology in hearing devices than I am with Earlens,” Bob said.

“Right off the bat, I told Bob that I wanted to be able to hear my three grandkids! I have always felt so fortunate to be able to spend time with them,” Ron said. “Sadly, my grandkids, Kennedy, Connor and Caiden, like everyone else, were well aware that I had very poor hearing. They wanted me to be able to hear at all their activities, especially on the course when we get to golf together!”

Earlens is the only nonsurgical solution that combines the care of an ENT physician and an audiologist or a hearing health professional. With Earlens, you will receive the highest level of hearing healthcare.

Earlens transformed the hearing experience for Alverson. He can now participate in conversations and hang out with his grandkids without worrying he’s missing a beat!

“I have had my new Earlens now for three months and the whole experience has been great, My family and I couldn’t be happier. Earlens is awesome!”
